Depuis le 1er Octobre, un Certificat d’engagement et de connaissance pour l’acquisition d’un chat devra être signé par chaque adoptant. Cette nouvelle exigence entre dans le cadre du décret 2022-1012 du 18 Juillet 2022 relatif à la protection des animaux de compagnie contre la maltraitance animale, il a pour objectif d’éviter les dérives liées aux achats « coups de coeur » responsables de milliers d’abandons chaque année. Le certificat obligatoire sera transmis par l’éleveur au futur adoptant qui devra le signer 7 jours minimum avant l’achat effectif du félin.

Since the 1st of October, a certificate of commitment and knowledge for the acquisition of a cat must be signed by each adoptant. This new requirement was defined in the framework of the decree 2022-1012 on the 18th of July 2022 related to the protection of pet animal against animal abuses, its objective is to fight against the impulse purchases responsible of thousands of abandons every years. This mandatory certificate is given by the breeder to the future adoptant and must be signed at minimum 7 days before the departure of the kitten.
